South Park Theater Logo, Pennsylvania's community theater

South Park Theatre, Inc. was founded in 1995. In our inaugural season, we offered four main stage and two children’s theatre productions. We have grown to eight main stage and five children’s theatre productions. The theatre is located right in South Park, in Allegheny County at the corner of Brownsville Road and Corrigan Drive. Our Main Stage (adult) Theatre sits nestled in the park’s pine trees and our Children’s Theatre stage is a unique, outdoor venue that is the perfect setting for children to enjoy quality, family-friendly theatre.

South Park Theatre’s mission is to provide quality, affordable mainstream theatre to both adults and children in the region and encouraging participation and involvement in the arts.

The artistic quality of shows is accomplished by:

  • Attracting and developing a quality volunteer actor base
  • Recruiting and hiring professional directors
  • Fostering and mentoring young professional designers
  • Selecting a variety of audience pleasing, yet artistically challenging plays
  • Selecting scripts from many genres including dramas, comedies, farces, musicals, mysteries and biographies
  • Selecting works from both established playwrights and emerging playwrights representing different ethnicities and backgrounds and genders

South Park Theatre is committed to keeping theatre affordable for our community. Main Stage tickets are $11 for non musicals and $15 for musicals. Our Children’s Theatre tickets are only $2. In order to keep our ticket prices affordable, we rely on the generous gifts of our audience, local corporations and funding organizations. All donations to South Park Theatre are considered tax deductible contributions to a 501(c)3 nonprofit institution.
Our patrons are the Theatre’s staunchest supporters. Over 600 people are season subscribers. Attendance at our Main Stage shows is over 8,000 people and our Children’s Theatre shows draw over 7,000 family members each season. Our audience members come from all over the region.
The Theatre’s day-to-day operations are managed by an Executive Director, the only full-time staff member. The Executive Director is assisted throughout the season by the Associate Director and the Associate Artistic Director. We hire high-school and college students as interns during the summer season to help with all aspects of production as well as with administrative tasks. The Theatre also relies heavily on our volunteers to help with “front-of-the-house” activities.
